Look underneath the keyboard on the left or right side. This is the location of the model type and serial number for Hammond organs made in the 1970s and later. If your organ is an older model or does not have the model number under the keyboard, continue to the additional sections for more information.
Hammond Organ Serial Numbers
The model B-3 was, and still is, the most sought-after model, though the C-3 differs only in cosmetics. Hammonds can be divided into two main groups: the 'Console' models such as the B-3, C-3 or A-100 which have two 61 note manuals and the smaller 'Spinet' models that have two 44 note manuals such as the M-3, L-100 and the M-100. Hammonds' serial numbers are not sequential from one production lot to the next, which can make it difficult to determine the date of manufacture of a Hammond organ.
Have you tried looking beneath the keyshelf? Conn often put their identification plates on the bottom of thekeyshelf at the treble end of the organ. Most Conn Model numbers begin with 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8. The onesbeginning with 7, or 8, are the Artist, or Classic lines. The smallerthe first number the smaller the organ with the exception of the 650series 650, 651, 652, and 653, which were three manual theater styleorgans. The models in the 7xx and 8xx series required separate tonecabinets. The others could also be use with separate tone cabinets inaddition to their built-in sound.
